Born on this day in 1911 – Alan Gifford, actor who has made appearances in 200 : A Space Odyssey, Phase IV, The Outer Limits, The Monsters, The Electronic Monster, and Satellite in the Sky.



Born on this day in 1925 – science fiction author Christopher Anvil.

Born on this day in 1952 – Douglas Adams, author of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, and Doctor Who script writer.



For the series he wrote: The Pirate Planet and Shada. He co-wrote City of Death with producer Graham Williams under the pseudonym David Agnew. He was also Doctor Who script editor for Season 17.

And in the horror genre:

On this day in 1931 - F.W. Murnau the director of Nosferatu dies (he was born in 1888).
