Born on this day in 1828 – Jules Verne,  author, whose works include – Journey to the Centre of the Earth and 20,000 Leagues under the Sea. In From the Earth to the Moon he envisioned a very early primitive rocket, little more than a projectile but one of the first craft of its type to appear in fiction.


Born on this day in 1944 – Roger Lloyd Pack, actor (Doctor Who, UFO)


On this day in 1974 it is announced that Jon Pertwee will be leaving the role of Doctor at the end of the current series.

 
 On this day in 1984 Resurrection of the Daleks Part I is broadcast, this four part story is turned into two double length episodes due to coverage of the Winter Olympics.
