Born on this day in 1893 – Cedric Hardwicke, actor who made appearances in The Unknown, The Outer Limits, Twilight Zone, The War of the Worlds, The Ghost of Frankenstein, The Invisible Man Returns, and Things to Come.


Born on this day in 1930 – John Frankenheimer, director of The Island of Dr. Moreau(1996).

 

Two actors known in the science fiction genre left us on this day:

In 1995 – John Howard, actor, died aged 81. He had made appearances in Destination Inner Space, Men into Space, The Unknown Terror, and Science Fiction Theatre.


In 2010 – Lionel Jeffries, actor, died aged 83. He had appeared in Lexx, First Men in the Moon, The Revenge of Frankenstein, and The Quatermass Experiment.



And in the horror genre:

On this day in 1968 - Hour of the Wolf released theatrically





On this day in 1970 - The Bird with the Crystal Plumage (L'uccello dalle piume di cristallo) released theatrically in Italy


On this day in 1993 - Army of Darkness released theatrically.
